What Really Happened Between Kid Rock And Sheryl Crow

Way back in 2002 country music legend Sheryl Crow and car-loving singer Kid Rock collaborated on a ballad/country song named "Picture" for his Cocky album. It was a kind of love song about gazing at a picture of the object of your affections. When they performed it on stage, huge pictures of first Sheryl and then Kid Rock flashed on a screen as the two singers sat side by side on the stage. Fans commented on the obvious chemistry between the two and rumor had it that they secretly dated after the song came out.

Rumors swirled, as they often do, that the two were involved. It was all rather vague, with Kid Rock denying any involvement. But he usually does, save for his time with actress and animal rights activist Pamela Anderson.

So, did multimillionaire Kid Rock and country singer Sheryl Crow get involved romantically? Let's have a look to see what we can turn up.

The Rumor

The whole "they are dating" thing came up because of the song "Picture", which was a fusion ballad and country tune that was a big hit back in 2002. When they performed it on stage together, sparks seemed to fly between the two.

Fans thought they were perfect together and stories of their budding romance quickly spread.

Ranker certainly listed Sheryl Crow as a "possible" Kid Rock girlfriend. And whosdatewho.com reported the two had had an "encounter" but lists Kid Rock as "separated" from Crow. But again that was largely based on the love song "Picture".

We are sorry to say there is absolutely no evidence they were romantically involved! The closest we got was a song Cheryl wrote in 2018 after Kid Rock expressed interest in running for the U.S. Senate. "Dude, I'm Still Alive" refers to his "lies" and puts in "I'm like Gloria Gaynor, You Know I Will Survive".  But still, that's not much to go on, is it?

The rumors resurfaced when in 2011 they got together again and did a country love song called "Collide". Rolling Stone said: "The video is low-key too, and full of footage that will make you wonder whether they're actually an item – or just playing one on TV." In the video, the two make eyes and smile at one another over a table in a bar. Arm in arm they walk out of the bar together.  The message? They are going to end up in the sack. Hence the reference to "Collide". The magazine went on to call them the "Kenny-and-Dolly of their day".

But romance? As much as we would like to spill the beans, we think that they are sometimes friendly and talented collaborators who occasionally get together to put out a song. After all, Democrat Crow called out Republican Kid Rock for what she deemed a sexist tweet against Taylor Swift in 2019. The offensive tweet was way over the top and said Taylor was a Democrat because she wanted to make it in Hollywood. Crow was outraged on Swift's behalf.

Despite Kid Rock's varied rapper/rock/country background, we like the lived-in country singer version of the guy the best. He and Sheryl are a perfect pairing vocally. We can only hope that carried on into their personal lives. But, alas, it doesn't seem so. But, still, they sometimes go on tour together. So maybe, just maybe . . .
